With Earth Day coming up, we’re excited about our first annual Earth Day Awards for the Wisconsin business community. The awards are meant to recognize Wisconsin businesses that are making a business case for sustainability while embracing the principles of Earth Day. In creating these awards, we hope to shed light on the amazing sustainability initiatives being implemented in the state by recognizing the companies who are committed to sustainability. We hope also that these awards and the companies that are recognized will serve as inspiration to other businesses throughout the state that are working to improve and innovate in terms of sustainability.
The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council will be recognizing businesses in three different categories. Businesses can apply to one, two, or even all three categories. The three categories are:
- Sustainable Process of the Year
This award looks to highlight the internal processes that can be so significant for a company’s sustainability initiatives, yet are often overlooked or ignored. Businesses applying for this award will have an opportunity to share their successes and challenges with others.
- Sustainable Product of the Year Award
This award looks to highlight the design (or re-design) of products to minimize negative environmental or social effects and even create net-positive products. Just as with the sustainable processes, the design of products allows businesses the opportunity to share their triple-bottom-line benefits.
- Sustainable Leadership Award
This award looks to recognize and honor individuals who are sustainability champions and look to the future of business and sustainability. We understand that it isn’t just one person who makes up an organization, but this award looks to give companies a chance to honor individuals within their organization who are helping lead them into the future.
