Per ASQE’s Insights on Excellence® latest Focus Study on “Optimizing Supply Chains for Sustainability”, carbon footprint measurement is the most selected environmental initiative at 34% for 2022-2023 global respondents across all industries. Yet a majority of global respondents disagree (65%) that their organization effectively holds external partners and vendors accountable to environmental social governance regulations and standards as an aspect of their outsourcing process. Data transparency to effectively measure supply chain emissions and supplier performance is a known challenge, and can hinder the ability to calculate the organization’s carbon footprint. Supplier accountability and workforce development are two main areas of importance to improve and optimize supply chain performance.
